What Even Is Confidence?

“What even is that? “

That’s what my anxiety whispers at the back of my mind. (I should give her a name)

Typically my anxiety doesn’t allow me to read even my own blog posts. I write them to release my thoughts, and once the ‘publish’ button is clicked on, it just lingers there online.

I remember the content of what I post, but always avoid re-reading them.

Why is that relevant or why does that even matter?

Because it’s perfectly aligned with confidence, or the lack thereof.

Confidence, I guess is subjective.

Some people perfectly personify it: *cough* narcissists *cough*

Others believe one can ‘look‘ confident and therefore place more attention on their outward appearance; whereas others place more value and emphasis on the ‘act’ of confidence.

Whatever the correct answer may be, true confidence goes a long way in reducing mental ill health and in ensuring that you feel like you’re in control of your own life.

(MHF revealed that a third of people in Britain have experienced suicidal feelings as a result of stress.)

I wish I could share guidance on confidence, unfortunately, I’m not the right blogger to share tips on that – just yet.

One simple tip though to push you up that ladder towards confidence …

“Anything worth doing is worth doing badly the first time”

  2. I too just type and publish. The more I read through my writing the more self doubts I get. It’s amazing fir me to find how many people go through what I go through. Before I staring blogging I thought I was the only one. 😏

  3. I really like posts like this one, seeing the thought process as you write and the honesty is great. I also publish and tend to ignore it afterwards! It’s like I’m scared to read it back in case that encourages me to bottle out and delete it haha.

  4. I’m definitely one of those people who put more value on the ‘act’ of confidence than the look. I always feel like the ‘look’ also requires approval from others whereas the ‘act’ actually makes us doubt our abilities sometimes – and that’s pretty much me all the time. All in all, some sort of confidence is needed for us to get things done you know, without confidence we really aren’t motivated to do anything.
    Great read sis💕
